Description
Coordinates, directs and implements programs, projects, and events that enhance downtown Longview; implements the Main Street four-point approach of organization, promotion, design and economic vitality; works with Convention and Visitors Bureau to promote tourism to Longview and downtown; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Examples of Duties
Manages projects of the Main Street program and nonprofit partner 100 Aces of Heritage, Inc. Serves as staff liaison and support to 100 Acres of Heritage, Inc.; coordinates and prepares for board and committee meetings including preparing agenda and executing communications; facilitates training opportunities; maintains all Main Street and 100 Acres of Heritage financial records, program records and files. Implements events and efforts to promote, enhance, and/or fundraise for the betterment of downtown, such as the Downtown Live concert series, Christmas Tree Lighting, Christmas Parade, and Longview Wine Swirl. In coordination with other city staff, provides guidance to third-party groups wishing to host outdoor events in downtown Longview and beyond. Develops and implements comprehensive marketing and promotional plans, including fundraisers, special events, and public relations for downtown Longview. Researches, prepares application, and manages grants or awards for Downtown Longview. Attends meetings, conferences, and trainings as required to maintain Main Street certifications. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports as necessary to Texas Main Street. Promotes the restoration and rehabilitation of buildings and businesses by educating business owners of resources available. Works in collaboration with partner organizations such as Arts!Longview Cultural District, Keep Longview Beautiful, Historic Preservation, downtown museums, downtown businesses, and other relevant organizations and agencies to enhance downtown. Prepares and makes presentation to City Council, city staff, advisory boards, community groups, and other outside organizations or businesses as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Historic Preservation, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communication, or equivalent; three years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Must also work outdoors during festivals, events and outdoor tours. Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
