SUMMARY 

At Magnolia, the Assistant Store Managerat Magnolia Press is responsible for managing employees and kitchen needs, including setting schedules, approving leave, evaluating performance, training new staff, performing quality control checks on food, and maintaining all essential needs and supplies. This position coordinates with leadership to ensure supply needs are communicated. This position works from Magnolia Press in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Magnolia Press Store Manager and has supervisory responsibilities.     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide guidance and assistanceto employees as needed to ensure they meet quality standards and provide excellent service*  
  • Partner with manager to ensure staff performance meets team goals* 
  • Manage inventory levels by ordering food supplies and ingredients and ensure business unit is well stocked without excess waste* 
  • Monitor, restock sales floor according to visual standards, and report on inventory levels to supervisor 
  • Reconcile cash drawers prepare new drawers and deposits, and fulfill change requests 
  • Develop leads to assist with ordering and maintain food and retail backstock 
  • Train and supervise staff to facilitate quick acclimation 
  • Ensure all labeling standards are being followed and first in first out inventory control methods are implemented* 
  • Monitor kitchen equipment functionality and cleanliness 
  • Create schedules to ensure efficient operation during all business hours and publish at minimum of two weeks in advance* 
  • Ensure all employees are following Magnolia Handbook policies, sanitation guidelines, and quality and safety standards 
  • Assist manager with regular inspections and audits to comply with local, state, and federal regulations 
  • Support Store Manager in planning and preparation for events 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent  
  • 3-5 years of related work experience preferred  
  • Texas Food Manager Certification  
  • Must be available to work weekends, nights, special events, and holidays as business needs require 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The employee routinely uses sinks, ovens, and tools to clean kitchen appliances. The employee is frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
