Summary: The Magnet Integration Specialist will assist the school in the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs which promote growth for all students. This specialist will provide instruction and assistance in the implementation of differentiated curriculum for students, and the implementation of the school improvement process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates and cooperate with the classroom teacher (s) to provide differentiated curriculum for students
  • Participates in departmental/grade level meetings at the school
  • Participates in parent/teacher conferences related to instruction as needed
  • Assists in monitoring, analyzing, utilizing student data
  • Assists in selecting and utilizing resource materials
  • Assists in coordinating a program of mentors and community resource persons
  • Assists in developing and coordinating grants to generate additional resources
  • Works with School Building Level Committees and School Improvement Teams
  • Coordinates and cooperate with the principal in formulating staff development training programs for teachers which will result in improved academic achievement and school climate
  • Assists in development and demonstration of instructional strategies which promote cognitive and affective growth for all students
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the curriculum for each instructional area and level at the school to successfully meet the goals and objectives of the magnet program
  • Maintains weekly log of activities as related to the School Improvement Plan
  • Assists in monitoring the implementation of the Final Settlement Agreement
  • Modeling lessons for teachers in the integration of the school's magnet theme into the core academic subjects.
  • Participates in the district's marketing and recruiting program to attract parents and students from different social, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds together in a strong program of instruction stressing academics.
  • Organizes parents and community members to participate in school programs and activities to improve education for participating students.
  • Assists Principal and Director in developing partnerships with higher education and businesses.
  • Provides direct instruction to students individually or in small groups.
  • Utilizes technology to develop powerful learning lessons.
  • Assists the Principal and Director to establish and implement a school-wide public relations program to promote the magnet theme and the work of students.

Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Should meet the certification requirements for the State of Louisiana for a teacher. Five years of exemplary experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor is required. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is also required.
