Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance / Controls Technician at Magna Engineered Glass supports the Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering team with change overs, troubleshooting, repairing and performing Preventative Maintenance activities (PM's) on robotic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems. Responsibilities progress by level, with opportunities to build advanced technical skills and take on increasing responsibility in system design, programming, and optimization. The position may require irregular schedules and involves exposure to chemicals, high voltage, loud noise, and hazardous waste.

ESSENTIAL JOBDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Level 1:

  • Performs work center start up and shut down processes.
  • Performs change over functions.
  • Respond quickly to production issues, minimize downtime, and ensure equipment availability
  • Documents all repairs and PM's using CMMS system.
  • Troubleshooting on pneumatics, soldering, robots, tip changers, and assembly fixtures.
  • Conduct equipment functions such as barrel/drum changes, weight checks, and changeovers.
  • Understand production metrics and escalation procedures.
  • Understands different types of adhesives and troubleshoots dispense systems for each type.
  • Updates technical staff through attending crossover meetings and updating equipment logs.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations; properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Level 2:

  • Same as above, plus:
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs, hydraulics, pneumatics, servo drives, and vision systems.
  • Read and apply electrical schematics, pneumatic prints, and blueprints.
  • Replace hydraulic/pneumatic components
  • Rebuild solder heads.
  • Troubleshoot robot programs
  • Use gauging fixtures for quality verification.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations; properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Level 3:

  • Same as above, plus:
  • Perform robot path modifications, vision system teaching/calibration, and HMI modifications.
  • Understand / interpret hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics
  • Create and modify PLC ladder logic, HMI applications, pneumatic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Apply GD&T, metrology instruments, and network protocols
  • Optimize soldering processes and perform servo drive replacements
  • Able to calibrate / teach vision systems
  • Contribute to engineering design through blueprint and drawing creation.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production and maintenance staff; support skills assessments and recommend or deliver additional training as needed.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations; properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in problem-solving, continuous improvement, and other departmental projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Level 1:

  • 1-3 years in mechanical / automation machine repair.
