  • Job Description Summary

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Technical Machine Operator (Automated Painting Process) position in the Composite department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will set up and run various profiles and all variations of machines according to line package specifications. This position will support the paint department in preparing hardware for various coatings. The position applies knowledge of mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions, conveyor systems for material handling and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Additionally, you will

  • Run various profiles and machine according to line package specifications

  • Maintain knowledge of technical documentation for spray coating, powder coating and industrial printing process including product specifications, application guidelines, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.

  • Mix various paints for spray applications and touchups using specific ratios defined by manufacturer and/or customer specifications.

  • Surface preparation for painting operations including abrading and cleaning surfaces using various solvents.

  • Detailed masking utilizing paper, tape, rubber, and 3d printed materials. Hanging delicate hardware on racks and carts

  • Responsible for Paint mixing systems. Submitting paint usage, mix ratios, cure times, and thickness readings.

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery,

  • Operate tools in order to aid in the manufacturing process

  • Perform periodic checks on equipment and solve problems as detected

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly condition

  • Follow all standard and/or prescribed safety regulations

  • Follow all standard operating procedures

  • Train and assist in development of less experience personnel

  • Proper housekeeping of your area at all times

Required Qualifications

  • Must have paint and mixing experience.

  • Ability to work effectively from drawings, sketches, tables and schedules.

  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of technical and mechanical theories and principles.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Must have to ability to stand for extended periods of time, use hand and arms to reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel and lift to 50 lbs. without assistance.

  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.

  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.

  • Assists and trains other maintenance and other technical-level employees

  • Must be able to work in high stress situations under adverse conditions for long periods of time using mental and visual concentration.

  • Must have experience in including personal protective equipment, hazardous waste, hazard communication, crane, and cleanroom practices.
