This position supports 2nd shift (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM).

DC Fabricators is seeking a talented Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team. This is an on-site position reporting to our manufacturing facility in Florence, NJ.

Whether you’re driving results in the office or making them happen on the shop floor, you’ll collaborate across departments to solve problems, support efficient operations, and help ensure every component is completed safely, accurately, and with precision!

Essential Duties of the Machine Shop Supervisor:
• Lead, supervise, and develop machining department personnel, including foremen and hourly employees.
• Manage hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions in coordination with Human Resources.
• Plan, organize, and direct machining operations to ensure compliance with engineering, quality, and production requirements.
• Establish departmental priorities to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, tooling, and floor space to optimize productivity and cost performance.
• Oversee maintenance and availability of production tooling, equipment, and supplies.
• Coordinate with Production Control to align machining activities with production schedules and resolve workflow issues.
• Work closely with Engineering to improve manufacturing methods, processes, and machining capabilities.
• Collaborate with Quality to investigate nonconformances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to resolve mechanical and electrical equipment issues and minimize production disruptions.
• Monitor departmental costs and support capital expenditure planning and equipment justification.
• Enforce safety policies, resolve safety issues, and promote a strong safety culture within the department.
• Maintain accurate records related to attendance, overtime, and departmental activities.
• Support labor relations activities including grievance procedures and apprenticeship programs.
• Participate in production meetings and communicate departmental updates, challenges, and solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Skills Requirements:
• High school diploma or trade school certification required; completion of an apprenticeship program or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in CNC machining and inspection of heavy components in a complex manufacturing or job shop environment required.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of supervisory or leadership experience in a machining or manufacturing environment required.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, inspection methods, and machine capabilities.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming and machining operations.
• Experience operating in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex operations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
