SUMMARY:

Operate and monitor bag machines that convert polyethylene packaging materials into finished products. Perform regular quality checks and proactively monitor equipment to ensure optimal results and product consistency. Success in this role requires consistently fulfilling all essential duties with attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate assigned equipment in the converting department efficiently and safely.
  • Perform quality checks during set-ups and at specified intervals throughout production runs.
  • Assist in adjusting equipment to resolve production and quality issues, maximizing output and minimizing downtime.
  • Communicate pertinent information to the Shift Lead, including equipment status, operational challenges, and quality issues.
  • Complete all required reports and forms accurately, such as Production Reports, Job Orders, Quality Check Reports, and Pallet Labels.
  • Record, accumulate, and calculate production data including pounds, bags, and time metrics.
  • Prepare boxes, wickets, and other necessary packaging materials to support production flow.
  • Monitor equipment, working conditions, and operating methods for safety, and promptly report any unsafe situations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area by performing assigned housekeeping tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support department and company goals.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires 1 year or more of experience as an Operator in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Computer Skills: Database Software.
  • Requires you to speak, read, and write good English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The ability to compute and interpret basic math formulas, percentages, charts, and graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds or more with assistance or proper equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and the risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • The temperature is not fully controlled and is somewhat influenced by seasonal conditions.
