Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production machinery to ensure efficient and continuous manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in achieving production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards. The Machine Operator ensures that production processes run smoothly to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and support overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Set up machines for production, including calibration, cleaning, and preparation
Operate machinery safely and efficiently to meet production requirements
Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, feed, alignment)
Feed raw materials or parts into semi-automated and automated machines
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
Monitor machine performance and test operations periodically
Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues during the shift
Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or machine-related issues
Maintain accurate records of production output, scrap, and defects
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area (5Sstandards)
Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and support departments
Qualifications
Minimum 6 months to 1 year of machine operating experience in a manufacturingenvironment preferred
Working knowledge of high-speed machinery and measurement tools
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for up to 812 hours per shift
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling, and operating machinery and tools
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and reach throughout the shift
Ability to visually inspect parts with attention to detail (near vision required)
Ability to hear and respond to machine sounds, alarms, and verbal instructions
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise,vibration, and varying temperatures
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Work Environment
Manufacturing/production floor environment
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and high-speed equipment
Requires strict adherence to all safety and quality standards
