Allgheny Steel, a trusted leader in steel processing located in Indianola, PA, is seeking a dependable and safety‑focused Shear Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating metal shearing equipment to cut steel to precise customer specifications while maintaining accuracy, quality, and a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
Shear Machine Operation — Set up, operate, and monitor shear equipment to cut steel sheets, plates, or coils to required dimensions.
Material Handling — Safely load and unload steel using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material‑handling equipment.
Quality Inspection — Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
Equipment Setup — Adjust blades, back gauges, and machine settings based on job requirements.
Safety Compliance — Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including PPE use and safe material‑handling practices.
Production Documentation — Record production data, material usage, and job completion details accurately.
Machine Maintenance — Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and routine checks to keep equipment in good working condition.
Required Skills:

Manufacturing or Industrial Experience preferred, especially in metal or steel processing.
Mechanical Aptitude — Ability to understand machine functions and make basic adjustments.
Blueprint or Measurement Reading — Ability to read tape measures, calipers, and job specifications.
Attention to Detail — Ensures cuts are accurate and materials meet quality standards.
Physical Capability — Ability to lift, move, and handle steel materials safely.
