Requirements & Skills
- Previous overhead crane operating experience required
- Experience in manufacturing, steel processing, metal fabrication, warehouse, or industrial environments preferred
- Strong understanding of safe material handling practices
- Ability to read work orders, inventory tags, shipping paperwork, and production documents
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Ability to work in varying warehouse and manufacturing conditions
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to OSHA standards
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic required
Primary responsibilities include:
- Safely operating overhead cranes using wireless remote controls
- Moving, stacking, staging, and positioning steel coils and materials throughout the facility
Loading and unloading inbound and outbound shipments
- Performing daily equipment inspections and reporting operational concerns
- Coordinating material movement to support production schedules
- Verifying inventory tags, dimensions, quantities, and product specifications
- Assisting with inventory control, cycle counts, and warehouse organization
- Maintaining a safe work environment by following OSHA regulations and company safety procedures
- Supporting general warehouse operations and material handling activities as needed

Position Overview
The Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead bridge cranes to move, stage, load, unload, and organize steel coils, metal products, and raw materials throughout a manufacturing and warehouse environment. This position is critical to maintaining production flow, inventory accuracy, workplace safety, and efficient shipping and receiving operations.
