Machine Builder

The Machine Builder is responsible for assembling custom metal forming equipment and machinery from blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience with gears, hydraulics, motors, and electrical controls, aswell as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during the build process.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience building and assembling machinery, including gears, hydraulics, motors, and related mechanical systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Working knowledge of computerized electrical controls and willingness to learn advanced electrical concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assemble custom metal forming capital equipment from blueprints and schematics.
  • Build and assemble mechanical components and subassemblies for custom machinery.
  • Layout, drill, tap, and prepare hole locations on parts for assembly.
  • Assemble gearboxes and install them onto machinery and equipment.
  • Install switches, controls, wiring circuits, and other electrical devices onto control panels and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions and work with engineering staff to resolve issues.
  • Read and work from blueprints, schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, and code books.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and modifications to machinery as needed.
  • Travel to customer facilities to install, service, troubleshoot, or repair equipment when required.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing and industrial environments, including noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to travel for equipment installation and service work as needed.
