Description
Dane County Land and Water Resources in Madison, WI has current vacancies for the Limited Term Employee (LTE) County Parks Maintenance Crew I position.
Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.
Note to applicants - for the 2026 budget year, there is a 1% reduction in wages. This is already reflected in the hourly wage above.

DEFINITION
Under the direct supervision of the Parks Operations Manager and general supervision from the full-time crew members, perform a variety of grounds and facility maintenance tasks at Dane County Parks.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Grounds maintenance, such as mowing, string trimming, tree trimming, planting and mulching, trail maintenance and snow removal. Facility repair and maintenance such as cleaning, washing, painting and assisting with building repairs. Operate and maintain commercial type mowers, trimmers, light and heavy-duty vehicles. Provide information and assistance to the public when approached in the field.
Education, Experience and Special Requirements
Education, Training and Experience:
Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Special Requirements:
Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Certifications/Licenses:
Completion of the Wisconsin ATV/OHM Safety Course preferred.

For Bilingual Positions:
Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Ability to routinely lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted. Ability to do manual labor, including repetitive lifting, bending, reaching, kneeling and squatting. Ability to string trim for four (4) hours at a time. Work will be primarily outdoors in varying terrains in harsh temperature conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment and tools that includes light and heavy duty vehicles, large driving mowers and various hand and power tools, including chainsaws. Ability to communicate tactfully with the public. Ability to work independently from oral and written directions.
