Job Responsibilities
Provides direct care to students, including but not limited to administration of medications, first aide, and emergency medical assistance. Administration of medication, provision of student treatments, tube feedings, medical assessments, and other related nursing needs of students. Maintains adequate medical records by recording and reporting students signs, symptoms, reactions, and progress through analysis of records. Reports pertinent information regarding students to the physician and Nurse Administrator/Manager II. Assists in the identification of special needs for students with multiple disabilities and assists in the planning and development of in-service and educational programs for staff and students, as requested. Assists RN with individual health plans and emergency action plans, as requested. Completes duties as assigned, filing, billings, and documentation.
Provides supervision and instructs other medical professionals and staff in the treatment or care of students, including UAPs and emergency medication.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Graduate from an accredited LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) program. Must have a current SC LPN License issued by the State Board of Nursing and three years of full-time experience. Considerable knowledge fo the principles and practices of nursing; ability to follow detailed instructions of a technical nature; ability to prepare and present educational programs to non-medical and medical personnel; ability to make decisions and perform work independently; ability to develop, foster, and promote good interdisciplinary relationships with other nursing staff, teachers, dorm staff, etc. to further a collaborative environment of care for students. Must have basic computer skills. This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
