Job Summary

Your Everyday Triage

  • Patient's immediate medical attention needs are assessed for appropriate screenings prior to the patient being seen by the physician.
  • Information is communicated to the physician and a plan of care is discussed before, during, and after the visit.
  • Patient records are updated with allergies, vital signs, reason for visit, current medications, social and past medical history, abuse, fall risk, functional assessment, and advance directives.
  • Physician's orders are verified, medications and treatments are prepared, documented, and administered, and charges are submitted as required.
  • Exam rooms are cleaned, sanitized, and reorganized after each visit.
  • Test/lab reports are present in the medical record prior to the visit, and communication between patients and physicians regarding lab/test results, medications, appointments, etc. is ensured.
  • Correspondence and scans are sorted and distributed into patient's medical record after physician review and sign off.
  • Patient messages and chart messages are responded to promptly, and all communication is recorded in the patient record.
  • Supplies are ordered and organized, medications are stored properly, and multi-dose medications are labeled with the date opened, expiration date, and the nurse's initials.
  • Clinic logs are completed daily, and emergency kits and oxygen are checked monthly.
  • Surgical instruments are stored appropriately, and packaging is intact.
  • Regulatory issues are reported promptly to the Office Manager, and tickets are submitted electronically as needed.

Requirements

The Must-Haves Minimum:

  • Current licensed practical nurse through the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • 3 years of related experience.
