LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE- LPN FLSA NON-EXEMPT

Duties and Responsibilities

Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration following standard protocol.

Provide basic patient care including medication administration, vaccine administration, wound care, urinary catheterization, ear lavage, nebulizer treatment, etc.

Monitor patient conditions, report changes, and take appropriate action.

Collaborate with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, modify care plans, and implement interventions.

Promote patient safety by following standard of care and internal protocols.

Manage telephone encounters, including but not limited to nurse triage, referrals, care coordination, pharmacy, and insurance tasks.

Support providers by managing patient flow, triage, and providing health education.

Administer medications, injections, intravenous fluids, and other medications as needed. Certification is required for certain procedures.

Administer medications and start intravenous fluids if certified and documenting per protocol.

Supervise and assist ancillary staff, including medical assistants, as needed.

Log, document, store, and handle medications and vaccines sent or received.

Stay current with required training tasks, including CPR, Infection Control, Environmental Care, OSHA updates, Relias courses, Human Resources Platform, VFCVFA requirements, and Title X.

Troubleshoot and report any significant changes or abnormalities promptly to supervisor.

Maintain applicable recall programs, immunizations, Pap smear, mammogram, tickler, etc.

Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.

Education and Experience

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Diploma and transcripts are required. Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Florida state license is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry patients or equipment up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to assist patients or perform procedures. Ability to perform manual tasks, such as taking vital signs, dressing wounds, and administering medications. Good hand-eye coordination for tasks like administering injections, handling medical instruments, and operating equipment. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including masks, gloves, and gowns. Visual acuity to assess patient conditions and accurately read medical charts, medication labels, and patient records. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under stressful or emergency situations. Ability to use fine motor skills for tasks like drawing up medications using medical devices and assisting with clinical procedures. Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and Florida laws. Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
