Lower School Teachers’ Aide

DESCRIPTION 

The Lower School Teachers’ Aide is a support role that will support classroom learning, student supervision, and daily routines in a Christ-centered, child-focused environment. The aide will work closely with the lead teachers to provide instructional and behavioral support to students and help maintain an organized, engaging, and safe classroom.

There is also an optional opportunity to work in the Aftercare Program from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, providing continued care and supervision for students in a relaxed, play-based setting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Classroom Support (7:15 AM – 3:15 PM):
  • Assist the lead teachers with classroom preparation, transitions, and clean-up
  • Support individual and small-group instruction under teacher direction
  • Help monitor student behavior and provide positive guidance
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times
  • Assist with classroom materials, displays, and organization
  • Grade student work
  • Take initiative for all tasks across the lower school, from arrival duties, lunch duties, to administrative tasks
  • Reinforce routines and classroom expectations to foster a structured environment
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with children, parents, and staff

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma required; some college and early childhood coursework preferred
  • Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting
  • Patience, flexibility, and a heart for children
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a Christ-like, loving, and respectful environment
  • Must pass background check and meet all school/employment requirements

SCHEDULE

This is the equivalent of a full-time exempt position which works Monday-Friday from 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM. Time-off shall coincide with the NCS teacher schedule with school holidays and a modified 10-week summer work schedule as determined by the Head of School.
