The Low Voltage Technician installs, maintains, and repairs low voltage electrical systems like security, fire alarm, and network wiring. They will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. They will troubleshoot issues, read blueprints, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
Run and Terminate Cables (CAT 5/6, fiber, power)
Install and configure equipment
Troubleshoot and test low voltage systems, diagnosing problems, and repairing or replacing faulty components
Work with low voltage systems
Maintain audio visual equipment and camera systems
Effectively troubleshoot failures and work in team environment to determine root cause of failure
Participate in plant shift meeting and continuous improvement activities
Utilize CMMS system, preferably SAP, to manage work orders and review work history
Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.

Essential Skills and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience in low voltage wiring and data
A solid understanding of low voltage systems, including security, fire alarm, and audio-visual systems
Proficiency in electrical wiring for installing and maintaining various low voltage systems
Ability to diagnose and repair issues in low voltage systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
Familiarity with and proper use of hand tools for installation and repair
Safe and proficient use of power tools like drills and saws
Experience with fiber optic cabling installation and termination
Knowledge and experience with Cat 5/6 cabling and termination
Ability to use and interpret readings from testing equipment
Experience with installing and bending conduit
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to effectively troubleshoot failures and work in team environment to determine root cause of failure
Highly motivated, disciplined problem-solver/troubleshooter
Strong ethics and ability to work in team environment
Knowledge of electrical principles, wiring diagrams, low voltage equipment, and testing procedures
Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills and Experience
Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset
Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts
