Safeguard UNFCU’s assets by addressing early-stage delinquencies and reducing future defaults through negotiating payment plans and credit options with departing members. Serve as a liaison with UNFCU attorneys on bankruptcy matters. Handle administrative processes related to loan payment relief, bankruptcy notifications, deceased accounts, disability insurance claims, negative share accounts, charged-off accounts, credit bureau reporting, and other related duties as needed.
This position is hybrid.
NYC Salary Range - $70,430 – $75,000 annually; compensation is commensurate to geographic location.
What you'll do
Regardless of seniority or role, uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing an exceptional service experience to colleagues and members alike through consistent demonstration of our service excellence behaviors
Review, log, and respond to all UN Payroll Clearance requests and monitor payroll allocations; ensure notifications are generated and emailed to all separating members indebted to UNFCU; negotiate future payment arrangements and credit line availability with separating members; monitor accounts and UNFCU general ledger for final entitlements
Process final entitlements received from UN agencies and apply payments to member loan accounts
Review and process deferments, payment changes, and disability payments (including deceased accounts)
Monitor and manage negative share accounts, charge-offs, and credit reporting
Submit and track disability insurance claims through ClaimVantage
Assign accounts to third-party collection agencies/law firms and apply collected payments
Review bankruptcy cases, prepare documentation, liaise with attorneys, and update systems accordingly
Maintain records in collection systems, manage account restrictions, and perform recovery of written-off loans
Provide member support, prepare reports, handle communications, collaborate across teams, and support additional duties
What we're seeking
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience focused on the control and prevention of delinquency in a financial services environment with administrative responsibilities
Knowledge of CFPB and FDCPA
Working knowledge of collection procedures, the bankruptcy code and all applicable regulations
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
Experience with Fiserv DNA is a plus
Ability to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from various systems
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage relationships across all levels
Sound problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills
What makes you stand out
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Experience with Fiserv DNA is a plus
