The Luxemburg-Casco School District is looking for a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher at the Primary School (4K - Grade 2) for approximately 10 weeks (September 1, 2026 - November 9, 2026).
We are looking for a teacher who believes all students can succeed in a global environment by ensuring excellence in both intellect and virtue. The most successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for teaching elementary school students; be a lifelong learner; possess a desire to work in a team environment; excellent communication skills; and outstanding classroom management including knowledge of restorative practices within a trauma sensitive environment.
Special consideration will be given to the applicant with:
Experience teaching elementary school-aged students
Knowledge of best practice differentiating instruction, and working within an RTI system.
Offer appropriate and engaging instruction that is student-centered
Assess student work to support growth
Provide a safe and secure learning environment
Have a growth mindset and the willingness to be a lifelong learner.
Must have appropriate DPI license (1809 - Early Childhood Special Education or 2801 - Cross-Categorical Special Education)
Case Manage Students: Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students, regularly assessing progress and making adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with School Teams: Work closely with a dedicated team of special education professionals, as well as teachers, administrators, and support staff, to ensure coordinated and effective support for all students.
Engage with Families: Communicate with parents to foster a partnership in the student''s growth.
Dedication to Professional Growth: Maintain a growth mindset, staying informed on the latest developments and actively collaborating with colleagues to enhance skills and knowledge.
Champion Inclusive Education: Show a strong commitment to promoting inclusive learning environments and uphold the belief that every student, regardless of their challenges, is capable of achieving success.
