The School District of Horicon is seeking a caring, dedicated, and collaborative long-term substitute for an Elementary Special Education Teacher from August 24, 2026 through mid to late September 2026. This position works closely with young learners, families, special education staff, and general teachers to support the developmental, academic, social, and emotional needs of children. Responsibilities include providing instruction in behavior and academics to students, organize and implement lesson plans, write IEP''s and develop goals, and support accomodations. The teacher is required to provide a safe, nuturing, and developmentally approprate learning environment, monitor and document student progress as needed, and communicate professionally with staff and families.

Applicants should have experience with classroom technology, PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-sensitive schools. Educators with experience in writing and implementing CCR IEPs, implementing positive behavior strategies, delivering behavioral and academic interventions, and exhibiting strong leadership skills are encouraged to apply. The School District of Horicon prioritizes engaging, differentiated instruction driven by school assessment data. Educators who can demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to work collaboratively are desired. The successful candidate should possess an understanding of and an appreciation for education, knowledge of best practice, curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Must be able to encourage students to work to the best of their abilities and to take pride in their achievements, provide a stimulating environment in which students learn, interact and grow academically, socially and emotionally.
