Logistics Specialist
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to coordinate the shipment and delivery of finished products from manufacturing facilities to customer project sites. This role is responsible for ensuring products are packaged, shipped, tracked, and delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will work closely with production teams, packaging personnel, trucking providers, and customers to maintain shipment visibility and support on-time project delivery. A successful Logistics Specialist helps ensure products arrive at job sites in excellent condition while minimizing delays, damages, and transportation issues.
Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Coordinate trucking companies and transportation providers for outbound shipments.
- Schedule deliveries to customer project sites and construction locations.
- Track shipments from manufacturing through final delivery.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and product status within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Coordinate with packaging teams to ensure products are loaded safely and efficiently.
- Verify shipping documentation, bills of lading, and delivery records.
- Monitor shipment schedules and proactively communicate delivery updates.
- Coordinate tarping, load securement, and special transportation requirements with carriers.
- Investigate and document shipping damages, shortages, and delivery issues.
- Partner with carriers and internal teams to resolve freight claims and transportation concerns.
- Manage inventory and procurement of packaging materials including dunnage, blocking, straps, and related shipping supplies.
- Collaborate with production, project management, and field teams to support project delivery schedules.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping, packaging, and logistics performance.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, or manufacturing operations required.
- Strong understanding of transportation and shipping processes.
- Experience coordinating trucking companies and freight carriers.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP systems, or similar software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Knowledge of packaging, load securement, and freight handling best practices.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, manufacturing, or supply chain operations preferred.
- Experience supporting construction projects, modular construction, or oversized load transportation is a plus.
- Experience coordinating freight claims and damage resolution preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Flexibility to work adjusted hours when necessary to support shipping schedules and customer deliveries.
