Job Title: Logistics Procurement Specialist

Location: De Pere, WI

Department: Logistics Operations

Reports To: Senior Operations Manager - Logistics

Job Summary:

The Logistics Procurement Lead is responsible for developing and executing carrier procurement strategies across the logistics network. This role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing carrier relationships to drive cost efficiency, service reliability, and long-term network optimization.

The position plays a critical role in balancing cost, capacity, and compliance-ensuring all carrier partners meet operational, financial, and regulatory standards. Success in this role requires strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to proactively manage carrier performance and risk while supporting operational execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead carrier procurement efforts across the Intermodal department and assist with the Logistics procurment, with focus on building a reliable, cost-effective carrier network
  • Negotiate carrier rates, contracts, and service agreements
  • Develop and maintain strong carrier relationships
  • Manage carrier onboarding including risk and compliance verification
  • Execute carrier RFP processes, including bid strategy, evaluation, and implementation
  • Monitor and manage all carrier-related costs including accessorials
  • Establish and maintain accessorial policies and cost controls
  • Analyze market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly
  • Partner with operations, sales, and customer service teams
  • Track carrier performance metrics and enforce accountability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in logistics or carrier procurement required
  • Understanding of rate structures and accessorials
  • RFP management experience preferred
  • MS experience preferred
  • Financial analysis experience preferred

  • Ability to sit, stand, talk, and hear regularly
  • Frequent use of hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision
