RATE CAPS FOR SUBMISSION:

Malpractice Must be included in rates.

Orientation $160-170 - half the hourly/callback rate, kicks in after 8 hours. Per hour of orientation or training beyond 8 hours

Hourly $320-340 - Per hour, not OT

Holiday $480-510 - Must be 1.5x the hourly rate. Per holiday hour, no OT


Summary: Locum coverage needed for OB/GYN Hospitalist department in Santa Cruz CA. The role includes restricted in house hospital call responsibilities. Primarily low-risk patients, but with access to strong support and a Level III NICU. Bilingual providers are strongly preferred. The site has gaps in hospital coverage as early as June. Please note: Dominican runs an OB ED, and the OB Hospitalist is expected to provide coverage as part of the role.


Schedule/Availability Requirements:

  • 24-hour in-house hospital call (6-8 calls per month) from 7:30a-7:30a
  • Site is needing locums that has July availability. At this time please DO NOT submit candidates that cannot help in July. Anticipating needing locums coverage for 6 months

Facility Location: Dominican Hospital, 1555 Soquel Drive, Santa Cruz, CA 95065

Setting: Inpatient hospital call

Duties:

  • Inpatient: Deliveries (60-65/month), with 25-30% C-section rate

Shifts Per Month: 6-8 call shifts per month

Required Procedures:

  • Vaginal deliveries
  • C-sections (assist required)
  • No abortions or postpartum tubal ligations (except during C-sections).

EMR: Cerner

Support Staff:

  • Ultrasonographer and 24/7 anesthesia coverage (10 MDs).

Reason for Coverage: Immediate need for locum assistance to maintain patient care. Loss of providers in the coverage group.

  • Pitocin Monitoring: Yes
  • C-Section team: Provider must assist
  • NICU Level: III(Partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Standord)
  • Specialist Collaboration: Strong partnerships with Stanford and community perinatologists/neonatologists.
  • Patient Demographics: Mostly low-risk, underserved populations. Bilingual providers preferred.
  • Is the locum required to monitor the patient if on pitocin: Yes
  • Does the physician need to be onsite if a patient is given pitocin(or another medication to increase contractions): Yes, OB Hospitalist are required to be in the hospital during the entire shift.
  • Is there an expectation for the provider to assist with GYN surgeries: Yes, any urgent OBGYN case

  • Looking for OBs with recent laborist experience training rather than mostly Gyn and aesthetics
  • Available to start as soon as credentialed at hospital
