Overview:
McLaren Bay Region is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterologist for ongoing 24-hour call coverage in Bay City, Michigan. The role offers a rewarding opportunity to work with a supportive hospital team, including hospitalist support and colorectal surgeons, in a community setting close to waterfront and urban attractions. The position involves providing high-quality care during scheduled shifts from March 1, 2026, through early 2027, with no weekend call requirements and specific shift schedules to accommodate work-life balance. ERCP skills are required, and the clinic is conveniently located near the hospital. This role ensures that you can deliver excellent patient care while enjoying a desirable lifestyle.
Required Skills:
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Valid Michigan medical license or eligibility
- Proficiency in ERCP procedures
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Ability to perform 24-hour on-call coverage and manage acute cases effectively
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in community hospital settings
- Familiarity with small-town healthcare dynamics
- Multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- Bilingual abilities welcome, but not mandatory
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in Gastroenterology
- Prior locum or hospital-based practice preferred
Other Requirements:
- Valid medical license in Michigan
- Willingness to adhere to McLaren Hospital policies and procedures
- Coverage includes holidays at special rates
- Travel expenses, including car, fuel, mileage, and hotel (subject to caps), are reimbursed within the outlined policies; rental vehicles must be refueled before return
- No reimbursement for third-party lodging bookings or taxes
- Malpractice insurance rates must be included in your hourly rate
- Completion of required orientation and training modules
Compensation:
- Hourly Pay Rate: To be discussed and submitted with rates including malpractice
- Hourly Rate includes on-call and daily shifts, with additional rates for callbacks and holidays
