What You Bring to the Role Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in cardiac surgeries (CABG with EVH, endoscopic radial harvesting)
- Experience with general cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, including open and endoscopic procedures
- Skilled in coronary artery bypass, congenital defect repairs (ASD, VSD, PFO), valvular repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, lung resections, chest wall and pleural surgeries, esophageal and diaphragm surgeries, and LVAD insertions
- Ability to insert arterial lines and manage adult cardiac patients
- Strong understanding of perioperative care and surgical protocols
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Additional Skills That Are a Plus Nice to Have
- Experience supervising or working alongside multidisciplinary teams
- Prior experience in a hospital setting with high patient volumes
- Familiarity with hospital electronic medical records and surgical documentation
- Bilingual abilities or additional languages
Preferred Education and Experience
- Physician Assistant certification and state licensure in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiovascular surgery or a related specialty
- Prior locum or temporary staffing experience is advantageous
Other Requirements
- Hospital privileges required; credentialing typically takes 3-4 months
- Willingness to work a full-time schedule: four 10-hour shifts per week, including one night and one weekend per month
- Must participate in hospital and surgery center protocols, including On-Call duties at Medical Center of the Rockies
- Travel arrangements: flights, lodging, rental vehicle, and mileage reimbursement as specified
- Capable of handling diverse cardiovascular surgeries on adult patients within a high-acuity setting
