Responsibilities:
- Administers nursing care within scope of practice under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, including administering oxygen, applying sterile dressings, inserting catheters, reinsert gastrostomy tubes, suctioning, irrigating wounds, giving enemas and douches, collecting specimens, performing dialysis treatments, operating hemodialysis equipment, monitoring patients during procedures, assisting with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests, aiding in emergencies with first-aid, CPR, and restraint, administering controlled and non-controlled medications, and providing medication instructions.
- Maintains medication accountability records, documents and reports patient conditions, prepares reports, and maintains related records including incident reports, patient charts, medication logs, and team plans.
- Provides general nursing and direct care, including taking vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene and daily activities, administering topical treatments, repositioning patients, responding to alarms, scheduling medical appointments, escorting patients, and assisting with recreational activities.
- Offers assistance and training to lower-level direct care staff in providing unskilled nursing care, and participates in staff meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service training, and nursing conferences.
- Orders medication and medical supplies, maintains cleanliness of nurses stations and medication rooms, and performs clerical duties such as answering phones and filing documents.
