Loader / Unloader (Non-Exempt | Union Position)

Location: Tarboro, NC
Department: ASC Operations
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Loader/Unloader is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient loading and unloading of materials within the Air Distribution Technologies (ADTI) Tarboro ASC facility. This role supports daily warehouse operations by handling inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring materials are staged and transported in accordance with company and collectively bargained standards.

This is a union-represented position and is governed by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments, including raw materials and finished goods
  • Verify quantities and inspect materials for damage during receipt and shipment processes
  • Accurately stage, label, and store materials in designated warehouse locations
  • Assist with picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (as certified and in accordance with union guidelines)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety policies and union standards
  • Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts and stock verification
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners to meet production and shipping deadlines
  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Perform other duties consistent with the classification as assigned in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Basic math and counting skills for inventory accuracy
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment
  • Prior experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or basic computer systems

  • Strong reliability and attendance record consistent with union expectations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, unionized environment

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more with assistance
  • Manual dexterity required for handling materials and operating equipment
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in a warehouse or distribution setting. This includes exposure to moving equipment, varying noise levels, and seasonal temperature fluctuations.
