The Learning Management Systems Administrator is a full-time, salaried position responsible for the oversight, management, and optimization of Cornerstone University’s online learning management system, currently Brightspace. This role ensures the platform supports the university’s Christ-centered mission and biblical confession by delivering a seamless, high-quality online learning experience for students, faculty, and staff. The LMS Administrator leads the development and implementation of LMS policies, supervises a team of support staff as required, and collaborates with academic and administrative stakeholders. This position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to aligning technological solutions with institutional goals and Christian values. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the implementation, and enforcement of LMS policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA), and institutional guidelines.
  • Provides phone, email, and/or in-person support for the LMS for students, faculty, and staff, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues to optimize the learning experience.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of course templates, ensuring scalability, accessibility, and alignment with CU Online standards of excellence and universal design principles.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership, faculty, and IT to assess and integrate new LMS features, staying current with developments in learning management systems and educational technology.
  • Gather course content from internal departments, SMEs, and others, ensuring materials reflect the university’s Biblical worldview and academic rigor.
  • Design and maintain learning materials within course shells, coordinating with faculty to develop, update, or revise curricula, assignments, textbooks, gradebooks, and external links.
  • Oversee on-time course deployment and system-wide updates, establishing timelines and accountability measures to ensure reliability and accuracy of all course deliverables.
  • Maintain and enhance the Brightspace master course library, implementing quality control processes to ensure data consistency, integrity, and alignment with CU Online standards.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive faculty training programs, creating effective communication channels to prepare instructors for curriculum changes, collect feedback, and foster adoption of best practices in online teaching.
  • Monitor and analyze LMS performance metrics, generating reports for senior leadership to inform decision-making and demonstrate the platform’s impact on student outcomes.
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality, utilizing excellent judgment when handling sensitive data in compliance with institutional and legal standards.
  • Research emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools, adaptive learning systems) to enhance the student experience while maintaining alignment with the university’s Christian values.

  • Work with all course creation, modification, updates, and revisions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • One to three years of instructional design experience in the evolving educational technology landscape
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work collegially with faculty and staff
