The School District of Manawa is searching for a Reading Interventionist/Academic Specialist for the 2026/2027 SY, Part-Time: FTE - .60

DESCRIPTION:

Provides systematic intervention to students in the School District of Manawa. The school interventionist''s primary purpose is to improve academic achievement of all students including students who are gifted and talented. Interventionists will provide leadership to classroom teachers in implementing intervention initiatives. They will also plan, implement, and assess intervention services to ensure fidelity. Interventionists will increase the staff's capacity to effectively implement identified core or universal practices to all students, by providing staff with ongoing and embedded professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid State of Wisconsin certification, Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience, Outstanding understanding of, experience in, and commitment to a Response to Intervention (RtI). Reading licensure (516 or 517) or math specialist certificate preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Reading Teacher License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and experience with the Wisconsin Standards for English Language Arts.

Experience and training in standards-based grading.

Knowledge of Science of Reading

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Board of Education approved salary and benefits as outlined in the salary and stipend guide.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently display the qualities as described in the attached teacher standards and indicators.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet grade-level, school, and district goals.

  • Adhere to all expectations described in the Professional Educator Handbook.

  • Comply with district policies, operating procedures, and school requirements.

  • Keep such records as are required by Board regulations, principals, and the District Administrator. These records include, but are not limited to, student data, lesson plans, and classroom inventory.

  • Attend all meetings called by the principals and the District Administrator, including in-service training and professional development scheduled by the District Administrator and special meetings called by principals.

  • Analyze district, grade, class, and individual student academic data for increasing student achievement, making informed decisions relative to instructional practices and select and recommend evidence-based instructional interventions.

  • Collaborate with other teachers for increasing student achievement by ensuring core instructional best practices are implemented with fidelity and staff are differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students.

  • Serve as part of a team that assists classroom teachers in understanding and completing more in-depth assessments to identify specific deficits/needs of a specific student or a group of students.

  • Assist in providing professional development opportunities and communicating pertinent information to staff as needed using a coaching model.

  • Keep informed of best practices and new developments related to literacy, math and gifted and talented and share the information with appropriate staff.

  • Provide explicit, scientifically based instruction and intensive interventions to individuals and/or small groups for improving literacy and math achievement levels.

  • Assist in the scheduling and assignment of student interventions.

  • Implement and/or facilitate classroom teachers in implementing the assigned intervention(s) with fidelity.

  • Monitor and communicate student progress with students, families, administrators, staff, and community agencies.

  • Work with staff to assess learning and behavioral needs and distinguish between issues related to family, culture, or language and a learning style or disability.

  • Consistently exhibit a positive attitude, a sense of efficacy, and commitment to the School District of Manawa when collaborating within and outside of the school community.

  • Maintain professional work habits.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the curriculum director.

EVALUATION: The curriculum director shall evaluate the performance of the interventionist/academic specialist.
