The position of Literacy Aide is a part-time position in a District elementary school with the workday being Monday to Friday for 3.5 hours.
The salary is $14,011 per year.
Bilingual Preferred.
MONITOR (GROUP OF CLASSES)
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Assist the classroom teacher in working with small groups of students in the area of literacy. The work requires independent judgment and is performed under the supervision of a teacher or administrator. Does related work as required.
THOUGH THIS IS A CIVIL SERVICE POSITION, IT IS NON-COMPETITITVE SO NO CIVIL SERVICE EXAM IS REQUIRED.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Ability to understand and direct children courteously and firmly but tactfully; ability to speak well and clearly*.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. NOTE: Academic or vocational training or clerical experience may be substituted for high school on a year-to-year basis.
