Job Summary
Captain Nickels Inn is a 10-room historic bed and breakfast in Searsport, Maine, where breakfast is an important part of the guest experience. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and creative Breakfast Cook to join our team and help create thoughtful, beautifully prepared morning meals for our guests.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking in a smaller, more intimate hospitality setting and takes pride in creating a breakfast experience that feels both personal and memorable. Our guests come to Captain Nickels Inn for comfort, beauty, and genuine hospitality, and breakfast is often one of the most memorable parts of their stay.
The right person will value quality ingredients, careful presentation, consistency, cleanliness, and the ability to create a warm and elevated experience each morning.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and plate fresh, high-quality breakfasts for inn guests each morning
- Assist in planning and preparing seasonal breakfast offerings that reflect the style and standards of Captain Nickels Inn
- Prepare both sweet and savory breakfast dishes with attention to presentation and guest experience
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies with care and attention
- Set up and organize the kitchen each morning for efficient service
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitary kitchen at all times
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs in a timely manner
- Receive, store, and rotate ingredients properly
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with daily kitchen opening and closing tasks
- Work collaboratively with inn ownership and team members to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Support occasional special breakfasts, intimate events, or enhanced guest experiences as needed
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or breakfast preparation experience preferred, especially in a bed and breakfast, inn, café, or small hospitality setting
- Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and organization
- Ability to prepare attractive, well-executed meals in a calm and efficient manner
- Comfort accommodating dietary needs and guest preferences
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
- Warm, professional attitude and appreciation for hospitality
- Ability to work early morning hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry kitchen supplies and food items
- Ability to perform the physical tasks required in a working kitchen environment
