We are looking to hire a Light Rail Track Foreman - Riverline!

Summary

The Foreman of Light Rail Transit (LRT) Track is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of the track system. They assist the Superintendent in managing the track department, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, coordinating track inspections and repairs, and supervising track maintenance crews. The Foreman also assists in developing and implementing track maintenance plans, monitoring track conditions, and ensuring efficient and reliable track operations to provide a smooth and safe transit experience for passengers.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manages and motivates the track maintenance workforce to obtain maximum productivity. • Adheres to the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, including administering corrective disciplinary action, as necessary. • Establishes overtime plan and vacation coverage, etc., and monitors for compliance. • Ensures all maintenance and equipment is consistent with applicable safety and established standards in accordance with FRA and NJ TRANSIT regulations. • Interacts with both the Mechanical Desk and Transportation Department to coordinate proper equipment manipulation, shop moves, and emergency repairs to maximize service to NJ TRANSIT's customers. • Monitors information and data to ensure it is properly entered and maintained in the Asset Management System. • Ensures employees are properly trained and utilizing the system to document work performed, serialized components, and other maintenance practices. • Supervises construction, testing, start-up, and operations of track projects. • Oversees contracted services and provides support staff to assist same in capital project work. • Provides technical support for new systems improvements and component design, procurement, and manufacture. • Ensures system reliability by analyzing trends of track system failure and coordinates with Vehicle Maintenance and Transportation to initiate corrective action and eliminate repeat system failures. • Oversees training programs for Mechanical personnel in assigned areas to assure Mechanical personnel are properly trained on new technologies. • Promotes a positive labor/management relationship with subordinates. • Develops and monitors material usage and availability to assure timely repairs of defective equipment to minimize equipment shortages. • Manages maintenance, construction, and inspection of the Light Rail Infrastructure. • Directs in-house forces and/or outside contractors in corrective actions to repair system defects. • Trains assigned staff in proper procedures and troubleshooting techniques to maintain track systems in safe and reliable operating condition. • Develops departmental goals and objectives, plans, and organizes work and establishes necessary staffing levels to achieve goals and objectives. • Identifies and prioritizes long and short-term capital projects and develops basic, preliminary design concepts and specifications so that projects can be progressed in the capital budget.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalent Six (6) years of progressive rail equipment/maintenance experience, including previous supervisory experience Mechanical trade school or (2) years of experience working with mechanical systems may be substituted for one (1) year of rail equipment/maintenance experience

Knowledge and Skills

Light rail maintenance-of-way (specifically track infrastructure) and station/building facilities maintenance is desired Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent written and verbal skills required
