Work Location: Geyserville Position: Lifeguard
Purpose: Under general supervision, the Lifeguard provides oversight of the pool and park area for the overall protection and the safety of guests both in and around the water. The Lifeguard has a professional obligation to prevent potential accidents by enforcing the rules and regulations of an aquatic setting and to react to any emergencies that occur.
Functional Responsibility: Essential Duties
Ensures and maintains safety, order and cleanliness in and around pool area and of all guests in and around pool area
Maintains an environment that is both safe and pleasant for pool patrons and surrounding guests
Ensures the deck and park areas of the pool are patrolled as required
Prevents accidents in and around the pool
Responds to guest needs, emergency or otherwise with care
Performs appropriate water rescues as needed
Provides first aid within the scope of care to all individuals on premises
Speaks professionally and effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Communicates and makes team aware of guests who are at risk: weak swimmers, breaking rules or overly intoxicated, to Management Team as needed
Performs pool maintenance as needed
Enforces pool rules and facility regulations
Completes an incident investigation report as necessary
Prepares the pool area for opening and closing
Ensures safe occupancy levels are always maintained in the pool
Attends in-service training sessions as well as any others deemed necessary by the company
Wears approved uniform and any necessary job-related safety equipment during assigned shift or anytime while on duty
Greets guests promptly and warmly answering questions about the winery
Creates a memorable experience for all guests who enter the property
Responds to guest inquiries and concerns promptly and with courtesy
Assists with movement of deck furniture and event supplies

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent
6+ months prior lifeguarding experience
16 years of age or older (must have written consent and other requirements if under 18)
Certificates and Licenses
Lifeguarding and First Aid (ARC, YMCA or Ellis & Associates)
CPR (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 or State Emergency Medical Technician)
WSI (Water Safety Instructor)
Desired
TIPS Certification or Certified within 90 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be able to remain calm and rational in emergencies
Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Able to lift and drag up to 150 pounds unassisted
Able to tread water without using hands or arms for a period of two-minutes
Working Conditions
General Pool environment with no travel
Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
Exposure to weather-related temperature & humidity extremes
Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment
Uniformed position with required bathing suit

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
