About the Role:
Rutter Mills, LLP, a leading personal injury law firm, is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Lien Resolution Specialist to join our team. This position plays an important role in the settlement process by preparing accurate settlement statements and coordinating with medical providers, lienholders, and loan companies to ensure proper financial distribution.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers, and able to manage a high volume of cases while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Schedule: Full-time Monday through Friday
Location: On-site in Norfolk or Hampton, Virginia

Key Responsibilities


  • Contact medical providers, lienholders, and loan companies to verify balances and obtain updated payoff information
  • Review billing records, lien documentation, and case expenses for accuracy
  • Prepare initial workups and final settlement statements for attorney review
  • Coordinate with attorneys and staff to ensure accurate and timely financial distribution
  • Maintain accurate case notes and follow up consistently on pending balance or payoff information
  • Assist with additional settlement-related duties as needed


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • Prior experience in lien resolution, medical billing, accounting, claims, personal injury, or a law firm setting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Professional phone and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with numbers, invoices, balances, and settlement documentation
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases in a fast-paced office environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn case management software
