About This Opportunity

The Manager of Licensing is responsible for the end to end life cycle of operational licenses and permits for approximately 15,000 corporate and franchise convenience stores. Provides training, direction, growth and development opportunities to direct reports. Create and maintain an open ended, respectful, and collaborative environment with peers and direct reports. Empowers appropriately direct reports, level-sets accountability expectations, communicates clearly, and uses appropriate conflict resolution or problem solving techniques when necessary. Develops and implements processes appropriately including routine and complex reporting. Reporting responsibilities include data-driven license expiration dates, government jurisdiction license data, store count data and various attributes for day to day responsibilities and for use in supporting company-wide licensing project initiatives. Licensing Managers may be required to act as a liaison or company representative in both corporate and social environments interacting with external third-party Licensing Consultants, Attorneys and law firms. Frequent interaction with internal corporate stakeholders from Legal, Tax, Accounting, Real Estate, as well as senior level corporate and operational management, franchisees, and/or their respective delegates.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee licensing/permitting application process for submission to jurisdictional agencies; reviews and approves invoices requiring both flat fees and gross-receipt calculations. Develops, trains, and mentors' direct reports. Exhibits strong leadership abilities through establishing and maintaining trust in a collaborative, respectful environment fostering and encouraging growth and development. Develops and maintains license processes related to end-to-end requirements, creates and generates reports reflecting relevant and transparent data ensuring protection of company integrity. Initiates and follows through on communication for/with corporate/franchise operations regarding licensing projects, initiatives, and timelines. Proactively addresses time-sensitive matters and attempts to mitigate or resolve issues with potential financial or operational risk, i.e., store closure. Initiates team and department synergies aligned with strategic company goals and initiatives. Consistently raises the bar for themselves, peers, and direct reports. Identifies and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement, develops efficiencies, ensuring the needs of the customer are first. Oversees project initiatives involving licensing, participates in and represents the Licensing Department with prepared presentations as necessary.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 5+ years YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 2+ years CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: Paralegal, Executive or Administrative Assistant Certification or Associates Degree; Management Training Certification; Equivalent work experience. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Strong, Intermediate, or higher-level working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Visio/Project Management Software, Oracle, and License HQ, SalesForce, or other licensing data management platform preferred. Ability to think critically and strategically, problem solve, lead with integrity, motivate, and make decisions appropriately. Delegate as necessary or required. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Organized, Detail Oriented, with ability to consistently manage time and expectations of themselves and assigned direct reports.
