Job Description Summary
The Nursing and Allied Health division at Cuesta College is looking for a Full-Time Tenure Track Licensed Vocational Nursing Instructor on our North County Campus to teach theory, skills lab, and clinical in acute care and long-term care settings. The position requires the candidate to teach both theory and clinical courses and assume the role and responsibilities of a full-time faculty including those listed below. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN leading to licensure as a Vocational Nurse. The nursing program has graduated more than 374 students since its inception in 2006 and boasts high licensure exam pass rates. Classroom instruction incorporates a simulation lab and modern technology. Our program emphasizes hands-on care, strong teamwork and collaboration. The majority of clinical experience will be with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Faculty are responsible for choosing appropriate course materials, developing a student-centered equity-minded syllabus adhering to a college-approved Course Outline of Record, outlining classroom expectations, and content to be covered as well as developing a plan for content delivery. This position requires regular communication with students throughout the semester, office hour availability, assigning grades, and referral of students to appropriate support services, as needed. Due to changes in instruction delivery, instructors will be expected to become online teaching certified, if not already certified.

Interview Process Information

A faculty member who is employed for less than 40% of the assigned time of a full-time faculty member is not eligible to participate in or to receive a District contribution toward the medical insurance benefit program.
All regular full-time faculty members and full-time temporary faculty members are required to enroll in at least the minimum medical coverage. Every new regular full-time faculty member/full-time temporary faculty member must enroll when they are first eligible, which is the first of the month following their date of hire.
A part-time faculty member who is eligible, but does not wish to participate in the Districts medical insurance benefit program must complete a Declination of Coverage form.
A faculty member whose monthly cost for insurance exceeds the Districts contribution is required to pay the additional cost by payroll deduction.
