Qualifications: Education/Certi fication: • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with current Texas license • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BL S) • Current certification in vision, hearing, spinal, and acanthosis ingrains screening or obtain within six (6) months Special Knowledge/Skills: • Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: • Three years of LVN experience Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Implements the district school health program with the coordination and clinical support of supervising Registered Nurse (RN). 2. Provides daily direct routine care to students utilizing school health protocols and individual health care plans established by the supervising RN. 3. Administer medication to students according to the board policy and district procedures; maintain accura te log of dispensed medications. 4. Contributes to a nd implement the individualized student health care plans as es tablished by the supervising RN. 5. Communicates with the supervising nurse, campus principal, counselor, teachers, parents, food service, transportation, and other staff regarding the health need s of the general population and those students with identified health conditions . 6. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including accurate, updated health records on all students . 7. Mainta ins accurate student health r ecords and immunization records. 8. Documents health concerns and enters all medical information into the compute r. 9. Maintains accurate daily clinic logs, medication administration records, and individual student treatment records. 10. Participates in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meeting and 504 meetings of students with identifiable health needs if supervisory RN is unavailable. 11. Communicates with parents regarding routine individual students' health care, illness or injury as directed by the supervising RN. Provides guidance to unlicensed assistant personnel (UAP) on routine health related tasks with predictable outcomes as directed by supervisory RN. 13. Checks the Automated External Defibrillator daily for a green ligh t and complete a monthly check and alert supervising RN of status changes. 14. Compiles a list of supplies needed for the clinic and places the order after collab orating with the supervising RN. 15. Educate faculty or staff as needed on health related topics as di rected by the supervising RN. 16. Participates on the campus Health and Safety Commit tees and Crisis Management Team. 17. Complies with the Texas Department of State Health Services regulations, Texas Education Ag ency rules, and district policy. 18. Maintains confid entiality. 19. Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. 20. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. 21. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district.
