Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

The Back Cove Animal Hospital is looking to add an experienced veterinary technician to our 6-doctor veterinary hospital in Portland. Come join us in our beautiful and modern facility just steps from the Back Cove Trail.

Our hospital has been thoughtfully designed to match our practice philosophy of maximizing employee, client and patient well-being and comfort. We are a paperless practice equipped with digital radiology (including a designated dental suite), ultrasound, and full in-house laboratory. We practice the highest levels of surgical and anesthetic safety.

Our veterinary technician position responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining timely appointment flow
  • Handling and restraining animals for exam and treatments
  • Anesthesia induction, monitoring and care
  • Hospitalized patient care
  • Assisting with surgical and dental procedures (preferably experience with dental radiology)
  • Performing general radiography

Applicants must have experience working in a veterinary hospital, a positive attitude, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills and computer proficiency. Applicants should be able to lift ~50 lbs and be able to stand for extended periods of time. Applicants should expect a flexible schedule and be available to work 1-2 Saturdays per month.
