Job Description
East Hawaii Health Clinics is seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse III (LPN III). This role is responsible for overseeing daily clinic operations, supporting physicians and clinical staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe and efficient outpatient environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, supervisory experience, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This position works closely with physicians, hospital departments, clinic staff, and administration to support patient services, workflow coordination, and clinic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily clinic operations, staffing, workflow coordination, and patient scheduling to ensure efficient and effective outpatient services.
- Perform patient assessments, record vital signs and medical histories, assist with triage, and communicate patient concerns and urgent needs to providers.
- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, treatment planning, referrals, patient education, and follow-up care coordination.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and compliant clinical environment, ensuring adherence to infection control standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
- Provide leadership, orientation, training, scheduling, and performance oversight for clinic staff while promoting a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Oversee operational functions including inventory management, billing support, coding accuracy, quality assurance activities, and implementation of clinic policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible nursing experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
- Previous clinic supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated supervisory aptitude, including staff coordination, training, workflow management, and performance oversight preferred.
Licensure & Certification
- Current State of Hawaii Practical Nurse license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one (1) month of appointment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, sterile technique, infection control practices, and outpatient clinical procedures.
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, adapt to changing clinic needs, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Experience with coding, insurance guidelines, referrals, and regulatory compliance preferred.
- Ability to lead, train, motivate, and evaluate staff while maintaining effective working relationships with patients, providers, and colleagues.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
