**Pharmacy Technician**
**Location:** Primarily Downtown Chicago (Dearborn & Superior)
**Schedule Options:**
* AM Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
* PM Shift: Monday–Friday, 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM
*Location may vary based on operational needs; however, most shifts are worked at our Downtown Chicago pharmacy location. Company-paid parking is available across the street.*
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our growing pharmacy team. This position plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists, processing prescriptions, preparing medications for shipment, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
The ideal candidate is organized, works well in a fast-paced environment, communicates professionally, and is committed to maintaining accuracy and compliance in all aspects of pharmacy operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Assist pharmacists in preparing, filling, packaging, and dispensing prescription medications.
* Count, label, and package medications for pharmacist verification.
* Prepare patient medication packages for shipment and coordinate deliveries through approved courier services.
* Enter prescription orders and patient information into pharmacy management systems.
* Maintain accurate patient records, insurance information, and prescription documentation.
* Communicate with healthcare providers regarding prescription clarifications and refill authorizations.
* Process and resolve third-party insurance billing issues as needed.
* Receive, inspect, and stock pharmaceutical inventory.
* Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering medications and supplies, and remove expired products.
* Perform routine inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
* Assist with onboarding and training of new staff members.
* Support daily pharmacy operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (required).
* National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
* Previous retail, specialty, mail-order, or institutional pharmacy experience preferred.
* Strong computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy software systems.
* Familiarity with medication names, dosages, and pharmacy terminology.
* Knowledge of insurance billing and third-party claims processing is a plus.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Strong communication and customer service abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
* Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
* Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
