About Us

Sankofa Holistic Counseling Services is a culturally grounded mental health practice committed to healing individuals, families, and communities through holistic, trauma-informed, and socially conscious care. We believe healing is deeply connected to identity, culture, purpose, community, and restoration.

We are seeking a compassionate and culturally responsive therapist who is passionate about supporting men navigating:

  • Early recovery from substance use

  • Re-entry following incarceration

  • Fatherhood and family reconnection

  • Trauma recovery

  • Emotional regulation and identity development

  • Self-actualization, purpose, and long-term healing

This role is ideal for a clinician who understands the intersection of trauma, systemic oppression, masculinity, grief, addiction, and community healing.

Position Overview

The therapist will provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy services to adult men from diverse backgrounds, including justice-impacted individuals and fathers seeking restoration and personal growth.

The ideal candidate is able to build authentic therapeutic relationships while maintaining accountability, compassion, structure, and cultural humility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy sessions

  • Facilitate healing-centered discussions around recovery, masculinity, fatherhood, emotional wellness, and life transitions

  • Support clients navigating re-entry challenges, including identity, relationships, employment stressors, and community reintegration

  • Develop culturally responsive treatment and wellness plans

  • Complete timely clinical documentation

  • Collaborate with supervisors and multidisciplinary supports as needed

  • Utilize trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches

  • Encourage healthy coping skills, emotional awareness, accountability, and long-term self-development

Preferred Clinical Interests & Experience

We strongly encourage applicants with experience or passion in:

  • Men’s mental health

  • Addiction and recovery support

  • Criminal justice / re-entry populations

  • Fatherhood support and family systems

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Community mental health

  • Afrocentric, culturally affirming, or liberation-focused therapeutic approaches

  • Group facilitation

Experience with modalities such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, DBT, Somatic approaches, NTU-informed healing, mindfulness, or restorative practices is welcomed.
