The Job The Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Licensed Clinical Therapist II. Licensed Clinical Therapists II (Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Worker, and Professional Clinical Counselor) within DPH work in a family health clinical setting to provide mental health services, including individual and group therapy, case management, and professional counseling in accordance with applicable professional licensing laws to individuals, families, and older adults.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate is available).

Minimum Requirements

License: Must be licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). A copy of license is required upon appointment. Licensure must be maintained and in good standing.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience as a licensed therapist in a mental health, community health center or social service setting.

Note: The application must clearly distinguish between pre-licensed and post-licensed experience.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable, however, not required:

Government or private inpatient and outpatient settings, psychiatric hospital, or behavioral health clinics/programs/contract agencies, with desired experience integrating with primary care or other medical providers.

Experience providing therapy to individuals, child/adolescents, or families.

Experience in a crisis intervention/brief therapy setting.

Experience in quality assurance or utilization review activities preferred.

Experience with care coordination with physical health care providers.

Experience with case management & coordinating care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders.

Experience providing clinical supervision to those pursuing their Master's degree as a clinical therapist and pre-licensed clinicians.
