We are a nonprofit organization serving individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and behavioral health challenges through shelter, recovery programs, and supportive services.

Behavioral Health Center
The Behavioral Health Center at the Rescue Mission of Trenton is a state-licensed addiction treatment facility offering residential, halfway house, and outpatient services.

We provide compassionate, recovery-focused care for individuals facing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our integrated, whole-person approach supports recovery through:
•    Individual and group counseling 
•    Peer recovery support 
•    Medical and mental health services 
•    Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) 
•    Recovery meetings and structured programming 
•    Life skills development 
•    Employment readiness and reentry support

Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LCADC) coordinates and provides clinical counseling and supportive services to residents in a residential recovery setting.

Core responsibilities include assessing resident needs and strengths, developing and implementing treatment plans, facilitating individual and group counseling, delivering psychoeducational programming, and monitoring resident progress throughout treatment.

This role also supports clinical leadership functions, including training, curriculum development, and supervision support as assigned.

What You’ll Do (Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities)
•    Conduct comprehensive assessments of resident needs, strengths, and recovery goals 
•    Develop, implement, review, and revise individualized treatment and aftercare plans 
•    Provide individual and group counseling services 
•    Serve as case manager for assigned residents 
•    Monitor progress and adjust clinical interventions as needed 
•    Supervise and support resident treatment activities and engagement 
•    Encourage participation in recovery support programs and structured activities 
•    Evaluate and recommend residents for Life Skills and other Mission services 
•    Coordinate care with external partners including Department of Corrections, Parole, Drug Court, and other agencies 
•    Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and required trainings 
•    Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation 

Clinical Leadership & Administrative Duties
•    Provide professional development training as assigned by Behavioral Health leadership 
•    Assist in development and facilitation of group curriculum and interventions 
•    Provide coaching to counselors and interns as requested 
•    Provide clinical supervision to CADCs or interns when designated 
•    Participate in required clinical supervision per NJ licensing standards 
•    Contribute to development and improvement of policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education
•    Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field preferred 

Certification / Licensure
•    LCADC (Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor) in the State of New Jersey, or other NJ DMHAS-approved credential, including LCSW or LPC 

Experience
•    1–2 years of experience in substance use or behavioral health treatment preferred 

Knowledge & Skills
•    Strong understanding of substance use disorder treatment and recovery models 
•    Knowledge of assessment tools, case management, and crisis intervention techniques 
•    Familiarity with clinical diagnostics and counseling modalities 
•    Understanding of criminal justice, child welfare, and mental health systems 
•    Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills 
•    High attention to detail and professional ethics standards 

Requirements
•    Valid driver’s license required
