Description

Title: Library Specialist I – Rappahannock Community College, Warsaw CampusPosition Details:Work Hours: 29 hours per week (part‑time, no benefits)Schedule: Late shift until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and occasional Saturdays; flexible evenings and weekends as needed.Pay Range: $15.00 – $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.Reporting To: Coordinator of Learning ResourcesDutiesDeliver friendly and effective customer service to all library patrons, including students, faculty, community members, and college staff.Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interpersonal communications.Use the Alma Library Management System to perform circulation duties, including creating new patron accounts and checking in/out library materials.Assist students, faculty, and staff with the creation of RCC ID Cards.Use SharePoint to make and modify study room reservations.Help patrons use computers and software applications (word processing, web browsers, online forms).Assist patrons with the use of copiers, printers, and scanners.Communicate library policies and guidelines to patrons.Use electronic and print information sources to answer basic reference questions.Troubleshoot library technology to find solutions to technology problems.Assist the Circulation Manager and the Acquisitions Manager with circulation and acquisitions‑related duties, including shelving, organizing materials, creating displays, and other tasks as assigned.Assist with Interlibrary Loan as needed.Assist with overdue notification and billing processes as needed.Open and close the library on time.Accurately follow library procedures, policies, and guidelines.Maintain familiarity with the library's print and electronic collection, website, and online research guides.Participate in library‑related trainings and professional development.Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience delivering high‑quality customer service.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency with a variety of computer applications and software.Ability to perform work duties accurately and in a timely manner.Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.Additional RequirementsMay need to operate a state vehicle.No employee supervision.Occasional travel to other campus locations.May be required to assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration.Eligible for the Commonwealth's Alternative Hiring Process for individuals with disabilities (AHP).Equal Employment Opportunity Statement: Rappahannock Community College is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in employment and education opportunity.
