POSITION
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered High School Library Media Specialist who will build strong relationships and promote a culture of reading, inquiry, and learning.
The ideal candidate will serve as an instructional partner and information specialist, collaborating with teachers to support student learning through research, literacy development, and access to high-quality resources. This educator will guide students in developing strong reading habits, critical thinking skills, and the ability to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively. In partnership with staff, the media specialist will support classroom instruction and help ensure all students have access to engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences.
This role requires a professional who creates a welcoming, inclusive, and well-managed media center that serves as a hub for students and staff. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, organized, and passionate about connecting students with books, ideas, and opportunities to grow as learners. Additionally, someone who takes a forward-thinking approach to student technology use for research, learning, and creation.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW
Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,100 students pre-K post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $180 million, with a state funding of $10,000 per pupil.
