Job Description
The Library Associate – Technical Services performs clerical and technical work related to library material acquisitions, ordering, and processing.
Essential Functions:
- Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Responds to and resolves patron questions or concerns.
- Orders library materials from a variety of vendors, as requested by the Adult Collections Coordinator, Youth Services Coordinator, and other selectors.
- Processes invoices and creates claims for payment.
- Maintains current vendor records and communicates with vendors regarding orders.
- Works with the Administrative Assistant and Library Director to establish annual collections budgets. Monitors collections budgets and gives frequent updates to selectors.
- Receives, inspects, and processes shipments of library materials.
- Assists with other Technical Services functions as required.
- Participates in the library’s ongoing training program.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Assists in Circulation and other library departments as needed.
- Works evenings and weekends as required.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree; 1-2 years of library or customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and office equipment.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
