Duties The Library Assistant I Youth Services provides assistance at childrens and teen reference desks throughout the Library answering questions in person online and by telephone. Provides readers advisory to library customers. Assists library customers with use of on-line catalogs databases and computers. Assists in promoting Youth Services collections through designing and constructing displays signage and bookmarks. May present andor assist with childrens programming and outreach services. May assist with collection development weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipmentfacilities.
Qualifications High School diploma or GED required.
PREFERRED An Associates Degree or some college desirable. Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable. A desire to work with public and excellent customer service skills a plus. Bilingual in Spanish and English and trained in American Red Cross First Aid desirable.

Civilian employees accumulate vacation at the following rates: Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year. From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year. From 11 to less than 21 years of service - four weeks of vacation per year. From 21 to less than 26 years of service - five weeks of vacation per year. From 26 years of service and up - six weeks of vacation per year.
