Role Description

The Liaison Engineer serves as the primary engineering interface between Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management during aircraft completion and modification activities. This role is responsible for resolving production-related engineering issues, developing design revisions and repair solutions, supporting aircraft installations, and ensuring modifications comply with applicable regulatory, certification, and company requirements.

 

Essential Job Functions

·         Serve as the primary engineering support resource for Production, Quality, and Operations teams during aircraft completion and modification activities.

·         Investigate and resolve production-related engineering issues, discrepancies, non-conformances, and installation challenges.

·         Develop engineering dispositions, repair schemes, design revisions, and corrective actions to support aircraft completion activities.

·         Revise mechanical designs involving aircraft primary and secondary structures, cabin monuments, furnishings, mechanical and interior systems installations.

·         Develop and revise engineering drawings, installation packages, and technical documentation in support of aircraft modifications.

·         Support the integration of structural, mechanical systems, electrical, avionics, and interior systems throughout the aircraft configuration.

·         Coordinate redesign efforts with Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Certification Engineers, and Engineering Leadership.

·         Evaluate proposed production solutions to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, certification requirements, customer specifications, and engineering best practices.

·         Support aircraft certification activities by providing technical documentation and engineering substantiation as required.

·         Interface with suppliers, outside service vendors, manufacturing personnel, procurement, and regulatory representatives to resolve technical issues.

·         Participate in production meetings and provide engineering updates related to open issues, risks, schedule impacts, and resolution plans.

·         Monitor engineering issue resolution metrics and ensure timely closure of production support requests.

·         Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing engineering turnaround times, rework, and production disruptions.

·         Assist in developing and improving engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

·         Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.

·         Minimum of 2–5 years of engineering experience supporting aircraft completions, modifications, interiors, or transport category aircraft programs.

·         Experience working with FAA-certified aircraft modification programs, STCs, or aircraft interior installations preferred.

·         Experience supporting production environments and resolving manufacturing or installation-related engineering issues preferred.

·         Familiarity with transport category aircraft certification requirements under 14 CFR Part 25 preferred.

·         Valid passport with the ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

 

Required Skills and Abilities

·         Proficiency with Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (SolidWorks preferred; AutoCAD experience beneficial).

·         Knowledge of aircraft interior completions, structural modifications, and engineering documentation standards.

·         Understanding of FAA regulations, certification processes, and aircraft modification requirements.

·         Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, installation instructions, and certification documentation.

·         Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions in a production environment.

·         Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across multiple departments.

·         Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to support internal and external stakeholders.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

·         Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced aircraft completion environment while maintaining attention to detail and regulatory compliance.

Work Environment

This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:

·         Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions

·         Loud noise levels

·         Use of heavy machinery and specialized tools

·         Potential contact with chemicals or hazardous materials

·         Working in confined aircraft interior spaces
