This recruitment will establish an open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Risk Manager, Senior positions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE OFFICE - RISK MANAGEMENT
The County Executive Office - Risk Management Division preserves and protects the human and capital assets of the County of Orange to allow County departments and agencies to meet their missions without unnecessary cost. Each of the seven programs within this division are designed to promote the prudent financial management of funds entrusted to the County of Orange for the provision of its services to the public. THE OPPORTUNITY
The County Executive Office (CEO)/ Risk Management is seeking an experienced and strategic professional to serve as the Liability Claims Manager.
This management position is responsible for directing and overseeing the County's liability claims administration program, including the management of litigated and non-litigated liability claims, oversight of outside legal counsel, claims investigations, settlement negotiations, and risk mitigation strategies.
The Liability Claims Manager serves as a key member of the Office of Risk Management leadership team and provides guidance and consultation regarding claims trends, litigation exposure, regulatory compliance, and operational risk.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field, along with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience related to liability claims management, litigation oversight, and claims administration.
At least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience leading professional staff and complex operational programs is highly desirable.
An Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC), or equivalent industry designation is preferred but not required.
In addition, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and knowledge in the following core competencies:

Only the most successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list.
Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
Based on the Departments needs, the selection procedure listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.
