Location: Outside Albany, NY (On-Site with Limited Regional Travel)
Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 + Performance Bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time


Take the Lead in a High-Impact Technical Leadership Role

Our growing and highly respected technology services client is seeking a Level 3Systems Engineer to serve in a critical technical leadership capacity. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys both hands-on engineering and team leadership responsibilities.

This role combines advanced systems engineering, cloud architecture, project leadership, and operational strategy within a fast-paced, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently lead complex technical initiatives while mentoring engineers and communicating effectively with executive stakeholders.


Position Overview

As a senior-level technical leader, you will play a central role in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions across hybrid and cloud environments. You'll work closely with leadership teams, technical staff, and clients to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions.

This is a 'player-coach' role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on technical expertise.


Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineering

  • Lead architecture, migration, and optimization projects involving Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments
  • Design and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions for a diverse client base
  • Implement and maintain virtualization technologies including VMware and Hyper-V
  • Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions


Technical Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and support a team of engineers and technical staff
  • Provide escalation support and technical guidance for complex issues
  • Collaborate with leadership on operational improvements, technical standards, and strategic planning
  • Help foster a positive, high-performing technical culture focused on service excellence


Project Management & Client Engagement

  • Lead major infrastructure and migration projects from planning through implementation
  • Participate in client meetings, discovery sessions, and strategic planning discussions
  • Translate technical concepts into practical business solutions for non-technical stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations


Security & Compliance

  • Support and maintain cybersecurity and compliance initiatives
  • Work with security frameworks and compliance standards such as NIST and CMMC
  • Assist clients with infrastructure security assessments and remediation strategies


Technical Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience with: 
    • Microsoft Azure (IaaS & PaaS environments)
    • Hybrid cloud infrastructure
    • VMware and Hyper-V virtualization
    • Enterprise networking and firewall technologies
    • Backup and disaster recovery platforms
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks
  • Experience leading technical projects and supporting enterprise environments


Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with: 
    • SonicWall or Cisco firewall platforms
    • Veeam backup solutions
    • MSP operational platforms and RMM tools
    • Healthcare or regulated industry compliance environments
  • Azure and security certifications are a plus, though practical experience is highly valued
